Four Ways You Can Show The World How Great Your Chihuahua Is

Love to show off your Chihuahua?

Do you think your Chi is simply the smartest, most athletic, and best looking Chihuahua in the world? Well, who doesn’t? Maybe the better question is: do you love sports and or competition?

There are plenty of ways that you can partner with your Chihuahua and have a great time together while bringing entertainment or a little light into someone else’s lives at the same time.

  • Sporting Events
  • Agility Events
  • Therapy Dogs
  • Show Dogs

Sporting events require your dog to begin with obedience training. Obedience training is great even if you don’t plan to participate in sporting events. It teaches your dog how to be a happy and responsive partner and it teaches the owner how to train, understand, and really enjoy their dog. Four months old is the ideal time to introduce them to training, but any age Chi can learn and participate in events.

Warning

Be sure that you are comfortable with the type of training being offered. If you are not comfortable with it, don’t do it. Find a different obedience training class. My suggestion is always to make sure that it is positive reinforcement training.

Obedience Trials

If you and your Chihuahua enjoy the training, you can then enter some sporting events. You can search online for competition event in your area or even ask your veterinarian if they know of some nearby. Your Chihuahua can acquire titles starting with CD. She will get a certificate with her name and CD. Example, Chico, CD. That stands for Companion Dog. There are other titles such as; CDX (Companion Dog Excellent, and UD (Utility Dog), UDX (Utility Dog Excellent), OTCH (Obedience Trial Champion), and the United Kennel Club offers a series of titles.
