If you are happy with your Chihuahua’s current diet but want to investigate the healing and preventive power of herbs and natural supplements, I offer a Herbal Consultation explicitly dealing with your dog’s needs.
As with the dietary consultations, you will need to fill in a detailed questionnaire and provide me with photographs as needed. I will make recommendations for using herbs and supplements to target any specific health conditions, support body systems, bolster overall well-being, and enhance the quality of life for all Chihuahuas, all life stages, all health conditions.

Basic Recipes for a Healthy Chihuahua
You Receive
One large-batch recipe, personally tailored to your Chihuahua’s age, weight, activity level. The diet will use readily accessible ingredients and of course, foods your dog loves to eat.
The plan includes very specific supplementation instructions (links to the brands and doses) Everything you need to get you started on the healthiest diet for your dog, with instructions for precise measurement of the foods, cooking, storage, and transitioning.
Follow-up is not included in this service, but a 30 Min phone/zoom consultation is included (if requested at the time of purchase) for any additional support and to answer questions you may have.
If you want more than one recipe, I offer additional recipes (large or small batch) for $75.00 each, if purchased at the same time.
Please note this Diet Plan is for a healthy Chihuahua and does not include any tailoring of the diet to support health issues or problems. That requires a Health Consultation.
Diet Plan & Health Support Consultation $250.00
This is a nutrition and herbal consultation for Chihuahuas who are facing health challenges. It begins with a thorough assessment of your dog via a detailed Intake form, which covers veterinary, nutrition, and behavioral history. The next step is a process of nutrient calculation, so all requirements relative to your dog’s body weight, age, and activity level will be precisely covered – and finally, I develop the recipe/herbal recommendations and write them up for you with clear instructions as to preparation and transition. For the herbal aspect, I may need some extra information, often involving photos of your dog. I may also require some information from your vet, such as blood work results, and am always happy to speak directly with him or her, via email or phone, regarding my protocol and herbal selection.
I can formulate weekly batches for you to prepare ahead of time, or smaller recipes are available as an option for those who prefer to cook 1-2 days at a time. Once you have booked, I will issue you the Intake form, and confirm your date. My waiting list is currently approximately two weeks, although I can usually make room quickly for urgent cases.

I have owned and raised Chihuahuas for over 20 years. I do not nor have I ever bred them, but I have 20 + years of experience in and the study of the Chihuahua breed, their health, nutrition, training, and behavior.
I have done years of study on canine nutrition researching veterinary medical journals, science journals, veterinary medical school libraries, and other trusted sources.
Besides the years of canine nutrition study, I have volunteered at our local animal shelter and worked at a bustling state-of-the-art animal hospital. I worked with the eight veterinarians there. Are you struggling with your Chihuahua’s weight? You are not alone! Chihuahua Nutrition Consulting Services can help. In North America, obesity is the most common preventable disease (yes, obesity itself is a disease) in dogs. Approximately 25-30% of the general canine population is obese, with 40-45% of dogs aged 5-11 years old weighing in higher than normal.
Obesity shortens a dog’s life and makes them more likely to develop disease. It was always accepted that heavy dogs lived a shorter lifespan than lean dogs, usually by 6-12 months. But a large, lifetime study of Labrador Retrievers has found that being even moderately overweight can reduce a dog’s life expectancy by nearly two years compared to their leaner counterparts. This is a sobering statistic.
When a Chihuahua is overweight, because of its small frame, it is more of an issue than with other larger breeds. Obese, or even slightly overweight Chihuahuas develop an increased risk for:
- many types of cancer, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, and hypertension
- osteoarthritis and a faster degeneration of affected joints
- urinary bladder stones
- anesthetic complications as they are less heat tolerant
We adopted Corazón (Cora) on September 12, 2020, and Winston on December 19, 2020, from a local rescue organization. Both came to us grossly overweight. I created a diet specifically for them and they are now at their optimal weight and much healthier.
