Training And Behavior

Believe me, I speak from experience here. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to socialize and train your dog. That is true of ALL dogs, but so, SO much more important for Chihuahuas.

Chihuahuas are very confident dogs, generally speaking. If you don’t properly train and socialize this little dog he will take over your home and he will train you! He will become a tiny little terror. That’s terror, not terrier (ha, ha). I know you want everyone to love your dog as much as you do, but no one can love a dog (except you, of course) that has decided he is boss and everyone around him or her will do his bidding. Oh yeah……it can happen!

WHAT PAIN?
This….

NOT This….

You’ve probably seen those videos on You Tube of little Chihuahuas growling and biting and showing their teeth. You can usually find them by searching “cute Chihuahuas”. Believe me, it is NOT cute when you live with it every day.

And last but not least, a well-trained and socialized Chihuahua is a happier Chihuahua. They want guidance and love, they don’t really want to be boss, they just feel they have to if you aren’t (after all someone has to be boss). By the way, being boss does NOT mean being dominate. There is a difference. Who would want to dominate over this tiny little bundle of love?

It doesn’t have to be a difficult thing to do, however it does take time and consistency. You can’t give in to their whims……no matter how adorable they are with those big, beckoning beautiful eyes.

Here you will find lots of tips and tricks that will make it easier to train and socialize your Chihuahua and you and he, or she will be healthier and happier. Happy training and bonding!
